Bio

Randall Orser

Randall Orser realized in high school that his career path lay in the bookkeeping/accounting industry. Bookkeeping/Accounting had all the facets that intrigued Randall: structure, organization, working with numbers, and flexibility. Yes, flexibility. There are so many areas that one can work in this industry (accounting firm, business, or for yourself). Randall working in several industries: retail video, wholesale food, insurance and construction which give Randall a wide variety of experience. Randall started computerized bookkeeping with Bedford for DOS (which eventually became Simply Accounting), and stayed with Simply Accounting working his current business, Cascade Business Services, around this one program.

Randall started Cascade Business Services in 1999 when he realized to really get ahead you need to own your own business. Randall saw a need for a bookkeeping service that not only cared about the books but the client too; a service that was more than just a data entry clerk, but could provide controllership services to the client without having to hire an accountant; plus, would perform the services at the client's premises. Randall also decided to concentrate on one program, Simply Accounting. The reason for just Simply Accounting was that Randall believed it was better to know one program very well rather than several programs just a little. Simply Accounting is also the best selling accounting software for small and home-based businesses in Canada. Randall has succeeded and then some. The business has become a successful enterprise that has mostly grown through client referrals.

Randall joined the Canadian Bookkeepers Association in April 2003 as he saw a need for a professional association for bookkeepers. Through the discussion forum Randall had a chance to meet other bookkeepers across the country, and dispense some helpful advice. So, when he attended the first annual conference in September 2004 in Winnipeg, someone he met on the forum nominated him to run for the Board of Directors. Randall was elected to the Board, and has since been appointed President. Randall sees this as a chance to bring bookkeeping up to the professional level it deserves.

Randall also became active with the Surrey Chamber of Commerce and Focused Networking which has not only helped with his business but his personal growth too. He attends many chamber functions and is on the Government and Relations Policy Committee (meeting last Wednesday of every month). Focused Networking holds bi-monthly and weekly networking meetings for people to grow their business through qualified referrals. Randall also joined the Achieving Excellence Program (Focused Networking) which has helped him to take his business to the next level and become a the prominent bookkeeping service in the Lower Mainland.
