Steps To Working A Room Tip #12

Be sincere, be on the lookout for how you can help other people.

Focus on WE not ME” approach.

Express why someone should deal with you

What can you do for them that someone else can’t or doesn’t do?

What’s New At Focused Networking

I continue to be creative and find ways to make Social Media easier for my members
I get bogged down with trying to keep up with it all so have decided to focus on Linkedin.

Tatsuya Nakagawa of Creative Atomic  http://www.atomicacreative.com/ suggested years ago that this was a great focus — I wish I had listened to him now.

I believe Linkedin is one of the more professional networks where you can create some very good business relationships.

Focused Networking is focusing on Linkedin – with their members as well as to bi-monthly social media groups “Focused Business Networking with Linkedin”.

We are teaching Linkedin Step By Step and with a process so our members and audience have a better understanding how to use it and how to benefit their business.

Creating a step by step process so that our members can network face to face as well as on-line and find future clients and still have access to building good complementary partners in business.

I am also available to train on line, to companies, and/or individuals on the benefits of using Linkedin.

This reminds me of the days when George Moen (now President of Blenz Coffee) and I use to hold events to introduce Email to everyone — Can you image doing everything by fax — like we use to in the old days. Imagine – if you didn’t accept email way back then.

Check out our our website under events: http://focusednetworking.com/events-2/

Bi-monthly events on Linkedin — We have a great bonus offer and will be expanding.

LinkedIn Tip #12

12. Include your LinkedIn url in your email, mail, facebook, website, blog, business card, and where ever you use your name. You want your contacts to stay connected to you. You can customize your LinkedIn Url in the edit profile section by clicking on public profile – by choosing a custom url that includes your name you will strengthen your personal brand and the searchability of your name (for example: http://ca.linkedin.com/in/krisbovay). This is custom URL is a public profile URL.

Steps To Working A Room Tip #11

Get Together – Buddy Up One On One

Quality Referrals happen when you get together and “build a relationship”.
Call within a few days of the event and schedule a time for coffee or lunch
Meet with people that are good alliances for you “regularly” (once every two weeks)
Have your “Getting To Know You Questions” handy
Listen 90% of the time – take an interest in “them”

LinkedIn Tip #11

11. Optimize your profile with keywords: these words or phrases should have high demand and low supply (you can use a tool called wordtracker.com – it offers a free 7 day trial). Focus your search engine optimization on the specialties and the summary section. Make sure to include your geographic location (Vancouver area, Canada) – you’ll be found much more specifically.

Connecting-Disconnecting -Social Media

“You have to know what’s important and what’s unimportant, for you. ”
~ David Harold Fink ~

Yesterday while sitting in a restaurant, I noticed about half of the people at their tables were either talking, looking at or text messaging on their cell phones. Walking home I observed people on street corners either checking messages or texting.
Cell phones have made communicating so easy that people are really connected today. Yet we may want to ponder how meaningful these connections are.

Is our fascination with cell phones just another time-consuming addiction that distracts us from what we want for ourselves and life? At the end of each day, have we used our time well, in fulfilling and meaningful ways?

I suggest AN EXPERIMENT…

For every few text messages and calls you make with other people, send a message to yourself. E-mail yourself with a question or comment about an idea, your feelings, your inspirations, your pains, your motives, whatever. Any time you’re inspired by your experience, make a little note of it – email yourself.

You might even send just one word – the essence of how you feel now or send a 7 word or less headline that summarizes your day. Save these in a file and review them regularly.

This little experiment could yield the best conversations of your day. It might even prompt more quality in your connections with others.

Talk frequently to the most important person in your life – YOU!

“You can live a lifetime and, at the end of it, know more about other people than you know about yourself. ”
~ Beryl Markham ~

Smart Sales Question Part 8

Handling Objections
“Can you tell me more about that? Do you mind if I ask you why? Do you see a way around that?”
“Are there any other objections?”
“If we can answer these objections, are you in a position to buy now?”
“Can I come back to that?”
“Did I understand you right when you said that… was most important to you?”

Your Priorities = Your Energy

are you sticking to your priorities?

“It’s not so much how busy you are, but why you are busy. The bee is praised. The mosquito is swatted.” — Mary O’Connor

Racing through life is very stressful. If we stay in high gear too long, we lose our ability to shift down. When we’re stressed, we can’t access happiness, appreciation, fun, compassion, generosity, awareness of beauty and other wonderful qualities. High stress also triggers emotions like frustration, impatience, anger and fear.

We want to achieve high energy without high stress. The bee has tremendous fortitude. It knows its mission in life and it goes about fulfilling that mission with steadfast determination. It doesn’t seem to rush; it just performs its business with utmost efficiency. The pesky mosquito, on the other hand, appears merely to be driven by its own needs as it frantically searches for its next meal.

Your goals should help you know what to do each day to give your life balance and meaning. Do your goals give you good reasons for getting out of bed in the morning? They should. your energy and drive will increase, and your stress will go down if you go back and review your goals and priorities and regain them.

“Don’t tell me how hard you work. Tell me how much you get done.” — James Ling

What’s Next — Follow-Up!

Anyone can collect business cards – what’s next??
Have you marked the event and date on the business card?
Have you noted if the person could be a strategic alliance or prospect?
What are you going to do with the business cards?
How are you going to follow-up on these leads?
Do you have a contact database so you can enter or organize the business cards you pick up?
Do you have an effective way to organize them, by industry, alphabetically, by event?
How do you follow-up (thank you note, telephone, email)?
Do you have an email marketing program to keep in touch
