Your foundation in life plays a major part in your happiness and success. There are many things that help make up a solid foundation and your habits play a big role in building your foundation.
Your Habits
YOUR HABITS DETERMINE YOUR FUTURE
A habit is something you do so often that it comes easily to you. It is a behaviour that you keep repeating until it becomes automatic. If you want to distance yourself from the masses and enjoy a unique lifestyle, understand that your habits will determine your future. Negative habits breed negative consequences. Successful habits create positive rewards.
Your Belief System
What you think and tell yourself is a direct reflection of your belief system. Your belief system, simply put, is what you believe to be true about yourself, other people, and the world in general. Examples include “life is unfair” and “most people are trustworthy”.
A belief system is kind of like a house’s foundation. You know it’s there, but you rarely see it or pay attention to it. Instead, your focus is on the house. Thoughts are like the house—easily visible and accessible. Working with thoughts instead of beliefs is the easiest way to change how you think.
Boundaries are like psychological stop signs. They’re limits that you set with yourself and other people to keep yourself psychologically healthy. They prevent you from overextending yourself or getting involved in situations that cause you distress. Without strong, healthy boundaries, it’s tough to know when to say enough is enough—both in your business and personal life—and it’s easy to end up feeling overworked and out of time.
Goals
Setting goals around what you want your life to look like, what you want to achieve, who you want to be, how you want to manage your time to achieve the things you want to do who you want to associate with, is all part of putting a solid foundation together.
Do you have goals set around:
Self Image: If you could be exactly the kind of person you wanted, what would your qualities be?
Health: What is your desire for health, and fitness. without your health – you have nothing
Relationships: What type of relationships would you like to have with friends, family and others?
Time Management: How do you prioritize your daily schedule (work load, delegating, interruptions, deadlines)? What can you do to get more done in less time?
Personal Pursuits: What would you like to learn in the areas of individual learning, travel, reading and other activities?
Community: What is your vision for the community or society you live in?
Work: What is your ideal professional or vocational situation? What impact would you like your efforts to have?
